Sections & questions

How to add, rename, reorder, and remove sections and questions — and why accurate structure improves draft quality.

A tender response is structured as sections containing questions. After RFP upload and extraction, the structure is populated automatically. For standalone responses, or where extraction missed things, you manage structure manually.

    Adding sections

    • Look for an Add section button at the bottom of the project page, or within the project's context menu.
    • Give the section a name that matches the buyer's document — for example, 'Section 3: Technical Approach'.

    Adding questions

    • Within each section, use the Add question option to add new question rows.
    • Enter the full question text as it appears in the tender document. The AI uses the question text to find relevant content in your vault — accurate text produces better drafts.
    • Word count or character limits for the question can often be set here if the tender specifies them.

    Renaming and editing

    • Click the name of a section or question to edit it inline, or use the edit option in its row menu.
    • Renaming a section does not affect any existing answers within it.

    Reordering

    • Drag the handle that appears on the left of a section or question row to reorder it.
    • Reordering is cosmetic — it changes the order questions appear in your project view and in the exported document, but does not affect existing drafts.

    Removing sections and questions

    • Use the delete or remove option in the row menu.
    • Deleting a question also deletes its draft and version history. This cannot be undone.
    • Deleting a section deletes all questions inside it. Move questions to another section before deleting if you want to keep their content.

    Multi-level structure

    • Complex tenders sometimes use sub-sections (e.g. 3.1.1, 3.1.2). UpliftRFP supports nested section numbering — the numbering in the project will mirror the tender's own numbering if the extraction picks it up, or you can set it manually.
